In March 2024, La Pulpería made history by winning Burger Week Panamá with our creation “The Basic Chic” — a burger born from laughter, local flavor, and the desire to reinvent the essentials with attitude.
More than just a dish, The Basic Chic was a statement: proving that “basic” doesn’t mean boring — it means real. Guided by that idea, our creative kitchen and bar team set out to craft a recipe that spoke to who we are: bold, charming, flavorful, and full of surprises. The burger brought together juicy beef, butter-toasted bread, bold cheese, house-made pickles, and a secret sauce that blended sweetness, acidity, and a touch of mischief. The result? A flood of visits, comments, reposts, and applause that quickly made La Pulpería a favorite among the public and judges alike.
But beyond the recognition, this win was a moment of collective pride. It was a reflection of teamwork, of our crew’s consistency, and of the love from the neighborhood — loyal regulars and new faces — who turned it into a phenomenon. The Basic Chic may no longer be on our menu, but its Burger Week legacy left a mark that goes far beyond flavor. Six Years of Stories, Flames, and Flavor: This Is How We Celebrated La Pulpería’s Anniversary
Six years ago, we lit the fire for the first time in Casco Antiguo with one clear idea: to create a space where Panamanian cuisine could speak for itself — full of flavor, storytelling, and street soul. In 2025, La Pulpería celebrated its sixth anniversary the way we know best: by sharing.
To mark the journey, we hosted a two-day celebration that brought together the best of our food community. On Thursday, we took over the house with a special collab alongside Amano and Mangle — two sister projects that share our vision, our respect for local ingredients, and a vibe that flows effortlessly from the kitchen to the bar. That night, the kitchen became common ground, and the bar turned into a gathering spot for flavors that spoke the same language: our own.
On Friday, we crossed the street and kept the party going at La Estrella, our sibling bar. The night was all about rhythm, cocktails with a story, and endless toasts. You could feel the energy at every table — familiar faces, loyal customers, curious newcomers, and the entire team — front and back of house — enjoying what we’ve built together.
This anniversary wasn’t just a celebration — it was a thank-you. To those who’ve been with us since day one. To those who walk in for the first time and feel something click. To everyone who believes, like we do, that food and drink are a way to tell the story of who we are.
La Pulpería turns six with a full heart and a clear vision: to keep cooking with identity, taking honest risks, and celebrating every story that finds its way to our table.
